Sabancı University, Assistant Professor Position in Ottoman History until 1800 

The History Program at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences invites applications for an assistant professor position in Ottoman History until 1800. Candidates with a background in any area or topic of specialization are welcome to apply, but those whose research and teaching experience covers a broad chronological and geographical scope and connections with the wider world are particularly encouraged. 

The successful candidate will offer graduate courses, including surveys of Ottoman history, Islamic history, and world history, as well as methodology courses and specialized seminars. In addition, the post-holder will contribute to the undergraduate University Courses Program (core curriculum), supervise M.A. and Ph.D. theses, and fulfill academic citizenship duties. 

Applicants must have completed their Ph.D. in Ottoman History or a related field by the beginning of the appointment on September 1, 2024. The post-holder must have proficiency in Ottoman Turkish. Knowledge of and research experiences in one or more of the following “Ottoman” languages is desirable: Persian, Arabic, Kurdish, Greek, Armenian, Hebrew, Slavic languages, Italian, Spanish, Latin and others.
