The Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS) at Sabancı University invites applications for full-time Professor of Practice or Instructor positions, effective Fall Semester 2026–2027, to teach undergraduate courses in Mechatronics Engineering and/or Electronics Engineering.
The position is designed for individuals with substantial industry and professional experience, with a primary emphasis on excellence in teaching and applied education rather than research-intensive academic work. Appointed faculty members are expected to deliver courses that integrate solid theoretical foundations with real-world applications, making use of case studies, hands-on and project-based learning, experiential teaching methods, and current industry practices.
In addition to teaching responsibilities, the Professor of Practice / Instructor will be expected to mentor students, supervise applied projects and internships, and actively support students’ career development through sustained engagement with industry partners. The successful candidate(s) will also be responsible for preparing and guiding students for participation in national and international engineering competitions.
Serving as an important interface between the university and external stakeholders, the position involves fostering industry–university collaborations, coordinating guest lectures, and contributing to initiatives that strengthen ties with industry. The successful candidate is expected to remain actively engaged in professional practice, uphold academic and ethical standards, and contribute meaningfully to Sabancı University’s educational mission and academic community.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Contributing to curriculum development with an emphasis on practical, hands-on, and innovative teaching approaches.
- Coordinating, supervising, and assessing internship projects to strengthen students’ industry readiness.
Qualifications
- PhD in Mechatronics, Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
- Demonstrated excellence in teaching, especially courses with laboratories taken by students with diverse backgrounds.
- Experience organizing and assessing laboratory courses.
- Excellent command of English
