Position Overwiew
The School of Languages (SL) at Sabanci University invite applications for a Visiting English Language Instructor position.
As the School of Languages, we provide students with the necessary foundation skills and knowledge to excel in their interdisciplinary academic studies and help them develop their language awareness, knowledge and skills in English, Turkish and in other world languages.
The courses offered by the SL are an integral part of the education offered at Sabancı University and aim to contribute to the university's mission of developing competent, confident and socially responsible individuals who are able to think independently and critically.
SL provides instructors with a challenging and stimulating work environment and contributes to the further development of language teaching and teacher education in Turkey and beyond.
Key Responsibilities:
The program is content based, focused on English for Academic Purposes and skills and language are integrated. SL Instructors work in a highly collaborative fashion and successful candidates will be expected to share responsibility for classes of students with partners and support students individually in tutorial sessions. Successful candidates will also be expected to create and share materials, as well as contribute to task and project work.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will meet HEC requirements to work at a tertiary English language preparatory school and will have:
- A Master’s Degree with thesis in a related field such as TESL/TEFL, Education, Applied Linguistics, etc.,
- A CELTA or DELTA Certificate
- At least 4 years of experience in an academic context, preferably in Turkey
- Experience in a position of responsibility or in team or project work
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
