Dean's Speaker Seminar: Dr. Deniz Karakoyunlu November 25, 2024
Speaker: Deniz Karakoyunlu (SU Class of 2004), Analog Devices
Title: Wireless Battery Management Systems
Abstract: As we move toward a future with battery powered electric vehicles, the manufacturers are trying to reduce the size, weight and cost impacts of batteries over a vehicle's complete life cycle and extend the driving range the battery supports. In this talk, Deniz will present how wireless battery management systems address the design problems associated with wired connections in the battery without compromising on the reliability and performance of the communication between the battery cells and the vehicle controller.
Bio: Deniz is Systems and Security Architect in the Battery Management Systems Group of Auto Electrification and Energy Business Unit at Analog Devices. Deniz received his BSc degree from Sabanci University in July 2004 and PhD degree from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in August 2010. From 2010 to 2016, he worked at Marvell Semiconductors as a staff security firmware engineer. Deniz has been with Analog Devices since January 2016. He is currently the technical lead for the next generation wireless battery management system program at Analog Devices.
