University Courses
What are the University Courses?
Students who complete the Foundation Development Year (FDY) or who are eligible to skip through FDY continue their studies in the freshmen year. University Courses are the totality of courses obligatory for every student enrolled at Sabanci University to complete starting at freshmen level and throughout their bachelors.
University Courses constitute the core of education at Sabanci University and aim to build a foundation conducive to follow faculty courses, to develop the practice of critical thinking with respect to ethical and moral problems, to get to know more thoroughly the society students currently live in, the world at large, and themselves. Natural Sciences, Social Sciences and sub-fields related to these sciences are all combined in university courses which are thereby designed in a way to guide students in choosing their major program of study.
University Courses consist of the following course groups:
- Freshmen Year University Courses: These courses are automatically registered to the schedule of the student.
- Major Works Courses: Starting with the incoming students of 2015, FENS students must take one, FASS and FMAN students take two from the pool of these courses. Upon the completion of prerequisites, students can take these courses whenever they prefer.
