CULT 342 Gender and Nationalism
The 20th century has been a century of nationalisms and wars (both hot and cold). Scholars, particularly in the decade, have shown the centrality of gender and sexuality in the imagining of national communities, the invention of traditions, and the conduct of wars. Through books, articles and films, the course will explore the interconnections between gender, nationalism and militarism in different parts of the world in the past century.
