Full-Time Faculty in Materials Science and Nano-Engineering (MAT-1-2022)
The Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences (FENS) at Sabancı University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the field of Materials Science and Nano Engineering. The position is expected to commence in the 2023-2024 academic year. Candidates having expertise in electronic and optical properties of materials as well as interfaces will be considered. Emphasis on state of the art experimental techniques is a plus. Preferred academic ranks are at the Assistant Professor level, but applicants at all ranks will also be considered depending on academic credentials and prior experience.
Materials Science and Nano Engineering Program offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees and has strong ties to and collaborations with Sabancı University Nanotechnology Research and Application Center (SUNUM) as well as Sabancı University Integrated Manufacturing Technologies Research and Application Center (SU IMC).
Responsibilities
Teaching:
To be eligible for this position, a strong interest in Materials Science and Nanotechnology Education and capacity to offer fundamental courses in Materials Science both at the undergraduate and graduate level is a must. In addition, the candidate will also be expected to offer at least one specialized course related to linking material properties to electronic/optical device science and technology that will complement the existing curriculum in the Program.
Research:
Successful applicants will have demonstrated outstanding scholarly research in the area of electronic and optical properties of materials emphasizing novel phenomena in various material types and material interfaces, be able to design and conduct state of the art experimental studies. The preferred candidate will be expected to develop an independent, internationally-recognized, externally-funded research program and establish an international collaboration network.
Service:
Apart from teaching and research, the successful candidate is expected to undertake service and citizenship roles, contribute to the operation and promotion of the University as well as the profession.
Qualifications sought:
Minimum qualification for the posted position is a doctorate degree in Materials Science and Engineering, Materials Physics, Materials Chemistry or a related field followed by a productive postdoctoral research period in a recognized institution.
