English Language Proficiency Exam (ELAE)
Among other responsibilities, the School of Languages (SL) is also responsible for equipping students with the necessary language and academic skills that they will need for success during their academic studies at Sabanci University (SU) as well as offering various programs. The ELAE is an English language proficiency exam that has been designed by SL. It aims to measure whether the students who will study at undergraduate/graduate programs at SU have the required level of academic compencies and level of English.
All newly admitted students are required to take the ELAE at the beginning of the academic year for which they are registering, unless the students can certify that they have passed one of the national and/or international foreign language examinations at a level determined by the university. Those students who pass the exam are enrolled directly into Freshman Year courses. Students who cannot pass the ELAE are placed in the appropriate route of the SL FDY program based on their score.
