Smoke-Free Campus Policy
The use of cigarettes, other tobacco products and electronic cigarettes is prohibited in all closed areas of Sabancı University, in open areas limited around the entrance doors of buildings, and on fire escapes. The use of these products, especially in places close to the entrances of buildings negatively affects the health of people who are passively affected by tobacco smoke.
"Smoke-Free Area" templates were created in the open areas limited around the entrance doors of the buildings, and yellow frames were painted on the ground. Yellow line applications are designed according to the physical condition of each building and the use of cafeterias.
It is ensured that the areas where tobacco products are allowed to be used are at least 5 meters away from the entrance and exit doors of the buildings and their surroundings.
Smoking, other tobacco products and vaping are prohibited within the yellow lines marked on the ground around the building.
The Smoke-Free Campus Application Guide covers all students, academic and administrative staff, as well as subcontractors, visitors and all persons using the Sabancı University campus.
Students, staff and visitors who do not comply with the rules will be penalized within the framework of the relevant law.
In addition, in accordance with Article 54 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547, student disciplinary provisions are applied to students who use cigarettes, other tobacco products and electronic cigarettes on the University campus, outside the areas determined by the University Academic Board.
